HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 cc541-2W
Mr. Douglas Hogg

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many pilots are required to operate the Royal Air Force's present fleet of multi-engined aircraft; and how many pilots are in fact now available for that task.

Mr. Goodhart

It is not our practice to give details of RAF pilot strengths. The number of pilots currently available to meet multi-engined tasks is about 10 per cent. below requirements; this excludes multi-engined trained pilots in ground and training appointments who would fill squadron posts in an emergency.
