HC Deb 31 July 1981 vol 9 c648W
Mr. Dudley Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what encouragement he is giving to the installation of anti-burglar alarm systems in private houses and institutions, in view of the record levels of burglary and house-breaking in England and Wales.

Mr. Mayhew

While intruder alarms are appropriate crime prevention devices for many circumstances, there is a wide range of other measures that can be taken to safeguard property. Advice on the best measures in individual cases can be obtained from local police crime prevention officers.
