HC Deb 30 July 1981 vol 9 c502W
Mr. Lang

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has any plans to extend the age eligibility of second index-linked national savings certificates.

Mr. Lawson

Yes. From 7 September there will be no age restriction at all. In addition, trustees, registered friendly societies and eligible charitable and other bodies will also be able to hold second index-linked national savings certificates. At the same time, the Government have increased their target for net inflows into national savings in the current financial year from £3 billion to £3½ billion.
