§ Mr. Wardasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will announce decisions to abolish those industrial training boards which are no longer required in order to end uncertainty about future training arrangements.
§ Mr. PriorI have received from the Manpower Services Commission the report on its sector by sector review of arrangements for industrial and commercial training, which is published today. Copies have been placed in the Library of the House. I welcome the Commission's thorough discussion of the needs of each sector, and the views of those involved. I shall need to study the report carefully, and to consider representations from those concerned. However, it is now very important to end uncertainty, and to announce decisions as soon as is consistent with giving proper consideration to the issues involved. Those who wish to express views on the report, or to put forward or develop proposals for alternative training arrangements, are requested to do so during September to me and the Commission, so that I can be in a position to announce decisions early in the new Session.
