HC Deb 30 July 1981 vol 9 c533W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take steps to compensate owner-occupiers from demolition orders resulting from a local authority decision concerning structural defects in Airey houses.

Mr. Stanley

The provisions for compensation for owners of houses subject to demolition orders are laid down by law. Owner-occupiers, subject to certain qualifying requirements, would normally be eligible for an owner-occupier supplement equivalent to the market value of the property less the land which they would retain. They may also qualify for other assistance—for example, home loss payments, disturbance payments and help with rehousing.
