§ Mr. Peter Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many appeals have been received under the Rent Order (Northern Ireland) 1978; how many appeals have been heard by rent assessment convenors; and how many applicants have succeeded in achieving a reduction of rent.
§ Mr. David MitchellI am advised by the Rent Officer for Northern Ireland that during the period from the 117W introduction of the Rent (Northern Ireland) Order 1978 on 1 October 1978 to 10 July 1981, 6,775 appeals had been received and of these 6,638 had been considered by rent assessment committees. Rents were reduced in 3,743 of the cases heard.
