HC Deb 16 July 1981 vol 8 c431W
Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action has been taken by the Government in pursuit of the first 14 recommendations of the report entitled "Youth in Multi-racial Society", published by the Commission for Racial Equality in March 1980.

Mr. Raison

Following the publication of this report, Ministers met representatives of the Commission for Racial Equality on several occasions to discuss their findings. The commission has been invited to prepare certain further material on the basis of which the development of its proposals could be considered. Earlier this year the Government instituted a review of the youth service, in the course of which the needs of ethnic minority youth and the role of the youth service in meeting those needs will be examined. The review group will also consider the findings and recommendations of the commission's report.
