HC Deb 16 July 1981 vol 8 c463W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which universities and which courses are most heavily subscribed by overseas students.

Dr. Boyson

It is not possible to provide this information as universities do not maintain fixed targets for overseas student entry either for individual courses or in total. The annual report of the universities central council on admissions gives information about the numbers of overseas applications for undergraduate courses by individual subject, not by university. The following universities had more than 20 per cent. of overseas students in 1979–80: City, Essex, London Graduate School of Business Studies, Manchester Business School, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology.
