§ Mr. Stuart Hollandasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what estimates he has made for the expected administration cost and anticipated revenue of introducing the provisions contained in Health Notice (81)13 in arriving at the estimated net income to the National Health Service of £5 million a year; and what sums are involved for overseas visitors and overseas students, respectively.
§ Dr. VaughanI can add little to my reply to the hon. Member on 8 June.—[Vol. 6, c.32.] The estimate of £5 million is necessarily speculative and it would not be helpful to attempt a hypothetical split between students and other visitors.
As my right hon. Friend made clear in his reply to the hon. Member for Batley and Morley (Mr. Woolmer) on 9 June—[Vol. 6, c. 257–9]—the administration cost is expected to be negligible.
