HC Deb 13 July 1981 vol 8 cc287-8W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the procedure adopted for the planning of Ysbyty Gwynedd district general hospital; what criteria were involved; what was the number of years' use estimated; and why, at the initial planning stage, provision was not made for a completely new kitchen and dining complex and a laundry.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The hospital was planned by the former Welsh hospital board, using design consultants, with regard to the guidance on procedure and criteria contained in the National Health Service capital projects code, pertaining at the time, a copy of which is available in the Library.

The code proposes an estimated use of 60 years. Provision was made at the initial planning stage for a kitchen and dining complex. Ysbyty Gwynedd, together with other hospitals in the area, is to be served by an area laundry at Bryn-y-Neuadd.
