Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the position of Wales amongst the 107 regions of the European Economic Community as indicated by (a) gross domestic product per head at current market prices, (b) long-term unemployment rates, (c) income per head, (d) activity rates and (e) public service expenditure as a percentage of total expenditure.

The information for Wales in 1979, the most recent year for which such comprehensive statistics are available, is as follows:

However information on (e) is not available.

There is no information at the present time for all the regions of the Community on a comparable basis relating to 1979.
