HC Deb 13 July 1981 vol 8 c306W
Mr. Murphy

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied with the current provision for sex education in schools.

Dr. Boyson

Schools respond in a variety of ways to the need for sound sex education. My right hon. and learned Friend has made it clear that there should be the fullest co-operation and consultation between parents and schools on this matter, and the Education (School Information) Regulations 1981 will require education authorities and governors to inform parents of the manner and context in which sex education is provided.
