Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what funds have been allocated to the Scottish and Welsh Arts Councils by the Arts Council in the Current financial year; what will be allocated in the next financial year; and, in each case, what proportion this represents of total Arts Council expenditure.
§ Mr. ChannonThe sums to be passed on to the Scottish and Welsh Arts Councils in the present year are £9.3 million and £5.5 million, respectively, representing about 12 per cent. and 7 per cent. of the total revenue grant. Sums for next year will depend on the size of the Arts Council's total grant, which is not yet known.
