HC Deb 13 July 1981 vol 8 c321W
Mr. Christopher Price

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish in the Official Report, in the most precise form available, the contribution of the London borough of Lewisham towards the total local authority borrowing requirement in 1980–81; and how individual authorities are worked into the national total.

Mr. King

The contribution of the London borough of Lewisham towards the local authority borrowing requirement in 1980–81 was £32.8 million. An individual authority's contribution to the local authority borrowing requirement is the net increase in its level of borrowing from outside the local authority sector, less the increase in its lending to other parts of the public sector.

Mr. Christopher Price

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish the questions asked of local authorities in the borrowing inquiry used in the collection of information about the local authority borrowing requirement.

Mr. King

Copies of the questionnaire sent to local authorities have been placed in the Library.
