Gross Net (£) (£) Work Experience on Employers Premises 517 352 Community Projects 1815 693 Training Workshops 2368 1120 Employment Induction Courses 140 96 Short Training Courses 1014 715 Remedial and Preparatory Courses 1140 880 The calculation of net costs takes into account the savings in social security and unemployment benefits 242W which would have been paid to participants taken off he unemployment register by the programme; the returns to the Exchequer of taxes and national insurance contributions paid by the adult staff on the programme; and the increased indirect taxes resulting from the higher expenditure of participants and from the non-wage expenditure on the programme.
