§ Mr. John MooreBecause of the relatively low intensity and the variability of direct sunshine in the United Kingdom, solar electric energy is not expected to provide an economic source of power generation. My Department is not therefore supporting work in this area, although its prospects are kept under review. The Department of Industry, however, funds some work and the EEC also supports some projects in the United Kingdom.
