We consult local authorities and the police to find the safest method of directing traffic through the site. The Department continues to search for ways of reducing disruption by phasing major repair programmes, making maximum use of night and weekend working when traffic is lightest, improving the design of lane diversions and increasing the amount of information given to drivers both on the road and through the media.
