§ Mr. NottIn 1979–80 the United Kingdom Defence Estimates amounted to £9,183 million representing 4.6 per cent. of gross national product at market prices. So far as comparisons can be made, corresponding Japanese figures are 2,090 billion yen and 0.9 per cent.
