HC Deb 16 January 1981 vol 996 cc629-30W
Mr. Les Huckfield

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give the names of the four licensing planning committees that are to be abolished; what are his intentions in regard to the remaining two, and the towns or cities to which they belong; and what was the individual cost in 1980 of the two remaining committees and the savings that would be created by their abolition.

Mr. Raison

Following the completion of consultations with the six committees which administer the seven remaining licensing planning areas—Birmingham, Bristol, city of Manchester, East Ham, West Ham, London (Metropolis) and Swansea—my right hon. Friend now intends to make an order the effect of which will be to bring all these committees to an end from 1 July 1981. Information relating to the cost of the committees is not available centrally.
