HC Deb 14 January 1981 vol 996 c528W
Mr. Stanbrook

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in the light of the recommendation of the Edmund-Davies committee that the matter should be kept under review, he will now propose that all recruits to the police should be subject to the same minimum height irrespective of sex.

Mr. Mayhew

The Edmund-Davies committee considered that the application of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 to the police should be kept under review, but made no specific recommendations about minimum height requirements. My right hon. Friend sees no reason to change the present position.
