HC Deb 14 January 1981 vol 996 cc542-3W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services which area health authorities have applied for (a) new authorisations of pay beds and (b) reductions in pay beds to date; and how many beds are involved in each case.

Dr. Vaughan

Applications for new authorisations of pay beds have been received from two area health authorities (AHAs)—Bolton AHA and Enfield and Haringey AHA. Both applications are for changes in the distribution of pay beds between hospitals already covered by an existing group authorisation and no overall increase in the group ceiling on the number of pay beds is involved. No applications for reductions in pay beds have been received.
