HC Deb 13 January 1981 vol 996 cc487-8W
29. Mr. Chapman

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is his latest estimate of the numbers of pupils who will be attending State primary and secondary schools in England in September 1981; and how this figure compares with one year earlier.

Mr. Macfarlane

The figures available are for the January of each academic year. It is estimated that there will be 7,708,000 full-time equivalent pupils in January 1982 compared with 7,969,000 in January 1981.
