HC Deb 12 January 1981 vol 996 c433W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received concerning Faroese plans to increase still further the catch from their salmon fishery, from an historic average of 20 tonnes per annum to over 1,000 tonnes in 1981; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

I have seen a memorandum on the question of Faroese salmon catches prepared by the Atlantic Salmon Research Trust and I have received several letters expressing concern about the fishery. The Government are participating in discussions in various forums to try to limit the Faroese fishery.
