HC Deb 12 January 1981 vol 996 c473W
Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will list, for each local authority in England, the total money amounts, at constant money values, of rate support grant actually paid by the Government in 1979–80, expected to be paid in 1980–81, and planned to be paid under the new arrangements for 1981–82.

Mr. King

I shall write to the hon. Member.

Mr. Kaufman

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, taking the figure of £9,027 million, c. 216, the Official Report, in his rate support grant statement of 16 December 1980, if he will state the percentage decline in real terms from the corresponding figure in his rate support grant settlement of November 1979.

Mr. Heseltine

The 1980–81 rate support grant settlement was for England and Wales combined and no division of the grants between countries was made in that settlement. It is estimated that between 1980–81 and 1981–82 the rate support grant for England was in real terms reduced by 8½ per cent.
