HC Deb 12 January 1981 vol 996 c473W
Mr. Denis Howell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he received the Lawther report on lead in petrol; what consultations he has been having about its recommendations; how and when he intends to announce his conclusion on this subject; and if such a statement will also embrace the departmental report dealing with questions of petrol efficiency and balance of payments considerations if lead content is reduced to 0.15 mg or taken out of petrol altogether.

Mr. King

We have been actively reviewing all aspects of policy on environmental lead, including lead in petrol, in the light of all recommendations of the Lawther report, published on 28 March 1980, of the report of the Department of Transport's working party on lead in petrol and of the comments we have received. A statement will be made as soon as possible.
