HC Deb 12 January 1981 vol 996 cc430-1W
Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what was the average amount of prisoner of war credits shown in the accounts held in respect of those Royal Navy and Royal Marine officers who were prisoners of war in Germany in those camps where Royal Air Force officers were also then being detained.

Mr. Pattie

The pay ledgers still held by the Navy Department do not identify the camps in which Royal Navy and Royal Marine officer prisoners of war were held. I am investigating whether this information can be obtained elsewhere and will write to the right hon. Member.

Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the pay of ex-prisoners of war during their imprisonment in the 1939–45 war, if he is yet in a position to make a further statement.

Mr. Pattie

I have nothing at present to add to the answer which I gave to the hon. Member for Norwood (Mr. Fraser) on 31 October 1980.—[Vol. 991, c.391.]
