§ Mr. Peter MorrisonAt 15 January, the latest date for which an age analysis of the numbers unemployed is available, there were 6,866 males and 2,481 females registered as unemployed in the area covered by the Clapham Junction and Tooting employment offices, which closely corresponds to the London borough of Wandsworth. The numbers of young people under 20 years of age included in these figures were 1,040 males and 694 females. Information for the precise age range specified is not available. The hon. Member will know that last November my right hon. Friend announced a major expansion of the youth opportunities programme to help unemployed young people.
