However, between 1 October 1979 and 31 December 1979, 14,857 offences against discipline were punished in prison department establishments in England and Wales and 5,280 punishments of forfeiture of remission were awarded. Information on the amount of remission lost was not collected centrally. Information for 1980 is not yet available.
