§ Mr. Tilleyasked the Secretary of State for employment if he will ask the chairman of the Manpower Services Commission to review his refusal to support the Capital Radio jobmate scheme after this financial year.
§ Mr. AlisonNo. I am satisfied that the manpower Services Commission has done all it can, within the budget and remit of the youth opportunities programme, to enable Capital jobmate to become established. Evaluation of the project has shown that, as currently conceived, it has a different scope and emphasis from that of the youth opportunities programme. However, I understand that the Commission will shortly be inviting the director of jobmate to discuss whether there is any potential to develop the project within the ambit of its programmes.
