§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Lord Privy Seal if, in the light of the deadlock in the Security Council over the appointment of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the United Kingdom will now support the Chinese proposal for the extension of the term of Kurt Waldheim for two years with an assurance that a Third world candidate will not be vetoed by the West thereafter.
§ Mr. HurdThe Chinese proposal is not now under consideration as the Security Council expects shortly to start voting on a wider range of candidates.
