§ Mr. MayhewThe information available on offences of driving or riding on a motor cycle without protective headgear relates to the numbers of prosecutions brought. In England and Wales in 1980, the latest year for which figures are available, 16,233 such prosecutions were brought; information on findings of guilt and sentences given is published in table 4, page 17 of "Offences relating to motor vehicles, England and Wales, 1980, Supplementary Tables", a copy of which has been placed in the Library of the House.
