HC Deb 03 December 1981 vol 14 c220W
Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why imported American magazines such as Newsweek and Time are not required to carry the same health warnings in respect of tobacco products as are magazines published within the United Kingdom; and whether Her Majesty's Government intend to take steps to see that there is uniformity of warning irrespective of the origin of the advertisement.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

The voluntary agreement with the tobacco industry relates to magazines printed and published in the United Kingdom. What health warnings, if any, should be included in advertisements in magazines printed and published elsewhere is a matter for the Governments concerned.
