§ Mr. Hooleyasked the. Lord Privy Seal what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards the objective of the new commander-in-chief of the United Nations force in the Lebanon of introducing forces of the regular army of the Lebanon into South Lebanon to ensure the territorial integrity of the country.
§ Mr. HurdThe Lebanese Government clearly have the right to deploy their forces on their own territory. The UNIFIL objective referred to is in line with Security Council resolution 425 which gave UNIFIL the task of assisting the Government of Lebanon in ensuring the return of their effective authority in the area. We urge all those involved to co-operate with UNIFIL and with the Lebanese Government to that end.
