asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the latest position regarding the balance of trade in textile goods.

Mr. Eyre:

In the period January to August 1980 our exports of textile goods totalled £1,564 million compared with imports worth £1,878 million, a crude deficit of £314 million. The deficit for the proposal to abolish the register of business names.
