asked the Secretary of State for Trade if, in his discussions with the French Government, he has yet resolved the question of their requiring all British craft entering France or French waters formally to be registered in accordance with the Merchant Shipping Act 1894; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eyre:

We are still pursuing our contacts with the French authorities with the aim of resolving what is undoubtedly a potentially troublesome situation.
