HC Deb 27 October 1980 vol 991 c181W
Mr. Lyell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many dwellings are in the ownership, possession or control of each of the area health authorities for England and Wales; how many of such dwellings, authority by authority, are in occupation; how many are vacant; and how many are underoccupied;

(2) how many dwellings are in the ownership, possession or control of each of the regional health authorities for England and Wales; how many of such dwellings, authority by authority, are in occupation; how many are vacant; and how many are underoccupied.

Sir George Young:

The information requested is not held centrally and I regret that it could be obtained only at a disproportionate cost. However, a recent survey of rent levels for NHS properties let to staff revealed that there were 19,742 such properties occupied by staff in England, of which 22 were administered by regional health authorities and the remainder by area health authorities.
