HC Deb 27 October 1980 vol 991 c79W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will give as much detailed information as may be readily available, showing the number of Afghanistan citizens who have been allowed to enter this country before and since the invasion of Afghanistan by the Russians; how many have been refused entry; and whether they will be allowed freedom of entry on the same basis as the Vietnamese boat refugees; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Raison:

Statistics of citizens of Afghanistan entering this country are not collected as a separate category. Afghan refugees are treated on the same basis as refugees from other parts of the world but there is no quota, as there is for Vietnamese boat people.
