HL Deb 20 October 1980 vol 413 c1746WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons who applied for naturalisation as citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies were refused in each of the years from 1975 to 1979 inclusive, and in each of those years, how many of those refused were advised they should not re-apply for at least two years.

Lord BELSTEAD

The figures are as follows:

1975 1976 1977 1978 1979
Number of persons refused naturalisation 477 450 343 222 556

Information as to how many were advised that they should not re-apply for at least two years could only be obtained at disproportionate cost.
