HC Deb 24 November 1980 vol 994 c15W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what are his latest energy conservation targets; what achievements have been recorded so far in the domestic and industrial sectors in conservation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Moore

The Government have not set quantified conservation targets, as they do not believe they would be useful. They are, however, confident that their conservation policies provide the right incentives to more efficient energy use throughout the economy. It is not possible to quantify savings achieved specifically within the domestic or industrial sectors, since these are difficult to disentangle from other factors.
