22. Mr. Parry

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will meet the chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality to discuss relations between minority groups and the police in inner city areas such as Liverpool.

Mr. Raison

We have frequent meetings with the chairman of the commission to discuss various issues, including the relationship between the police and the ethnic minorities.

24. Mr. Straw

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what advice he gives chief constables on the improvement of race relations in their police areas.

Mr. Raison

Chief officers of police are well aware of the importance that my right hon. Friend and my colleagues attach to good relations between the police and all sections of the community.

Mr. Soley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish in the Official Report details of the training given to police officers on race relations and the problems of ethnic minority groups.
