§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether the 6 per cent. salary and wage increase maximum for civil and public servants will apply to hon. Members; and whether this will be in addition to, or separate from, the various independent awards which have yet to be implemented.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasHon. Members will receive a salary of £13,150 per annum with effect from 13 June 1981, this being the third stage of the increase approved by the House in July 1979 and updated by 9.6 per cent. in July 1980. The Government have asked the Top Salaries Review Body to consider what further310W increase in Members' pay would be appropriate next year. The Government will put proposals to the House in due course in the light of the recommendations of the review body and of the general economic situation.
