HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 cc447-8W
Mr. Craigen

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what complaints the Inland Revenue has received during the past 12 months from the Law Society of Scotland and its members over the existing provision of stamping services in Glasgow; and what justification there is for further reduction in the staffing complement at the Glasgow stamp duty office.

Mr. Peter Rees

[pursuant to his reply, 10 November 1980, c. 45]: A Glasgow firm of solicitors has written to my right hon. and learned Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer recently about the lack —because of sickness—of stamping services at the Glasgow stamp duty office on one day last month. A reply will be sent shortly. That is the only complaint of which I am aware.

The staffing of the Glasgow stamp duty office, like that of all other offices, takes into account the volume of public business and the total resources available.
