HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c374W
Mr. Adley

asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many staff are employed in his Department as messengers or general assistants in reception areas; and how this number has increased or decreased in the last 12 months.

Mr. Channon

The four Departments for which I have responsibilities—the Civil Service Department, Her Majesty's Stationery Office, the Central Office of Information and the Government Actuary's Department—have 90 staff employed wholly or partly on reception duties. They are employed in 31 buildings throughout the country. Twelve months ago the number was 96.
