HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 cc302-3W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Lord Privy Seal whether he will state the attitude of Her Majesty's Government to the agreement governing activities of States on the moon and other celestial bodies.

Mr. Ridley

The United Kingdom supported the agreement governing the activities of States on the moon and other celestial bodies adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 5 December 1979.

The agreement was opened for signature early this year. Neither the United States nor the USSR, without whom the agreement would have little value, has signed. Their attitude will be a major factor in influencing the decision of the United Kingdom on signature.
