HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c462W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has checked the claim made by the Aire Valley motorway protest group for expenses arising out of the abortive public inquiry; what sections of the claim are invalid, and why; and if he will list both valid and what he considers invalid items of the claim in the Official Report.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

I have written to the hon. Member setting out the main areas of reimbursable expenditure and hope that the group will now resubmit its claim on that basis.

Mr. Cryer

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is prepared to meet the claim of the Aire Valley motorway protest group for expenses arising out of the abortive inquiry; and why he has failed to respond to the letter sent on the matter by the hon. Member for Keighley on 23 September.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

I have now written to the hon. Member explaining the basis on which a claim can be accepted. I am sorry that he has not had an earlier reply to his letter.
