§ Mr. FairgrieveI do not consider that any changes need to be made in the long standing arrangements under which hospital laboratories are managed by medical consultants or non-medical scientists of equivalent standing as head of department with appropriate delegation of duties to other staff. I am aware that there are local difficulties in Fife and my Department is in touch with the health board about these problems.
