Surveys are being carried out by my Department—in respect of non-university institutions—and by the Universities Council for the Education of Teachers—in respect of university institutions—to establish the employment status of newly qualified teachers in October 1980. Preliminary results covering the combined fields of these surveys are expected to be available early in 1981.
