§ Miss Boothroydasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will take steps to encourage the saving and efficient 431W use of energy by establishing a national award scheme along the lines of the Queen's Award for Exports, open to all commercial and industrial companies.
§ Mr. John MooreI have already been considering such a possibility, in consultation with the CBI. There are a number of difficulties, particularly regarding the criteria for the award and the costs of running the scheme. I have therefore decided not to establish an award scheme at present though the possibility will be kept under review.
