HC Deb 03 November 1980 vol 991 c440W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the value of hospital capital expenditure in each year since 1975 at both current and constant prices.

Mr. Fairgrieve

The value of capital expenditure by health boards on hospital and community health services was as follows:

their spending power, to have any beneficial effects upon the local economy.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

The staff economies referred to are the responsibility of Tayside regional council which must decide its own priorities in order to comply with the Government's overall policy of reducing public expenditure in the interests of the economy of the country as a whole. It is not possible to quantify the effects of a relatively minor change on the economy of a single region.
