226WThe total cost of the Food Additives and Contaminants Committee for the last full financial year, 1979–80, was £7,740. This figure excludes departmental administration costs, which would have been incurred whether the committee existed or not. The committee consists of 14 members—including the chairman—who receive a fee for attendance, and is served by an administrative and scientific secretariat. The degree of secretarial support depends on the particular subjects the committee is considering at any time. The committee does not disburse any moneys.
